“Distant Dialogue” contains remnants of letters from 1924, a couple, separated by work, converse between each other in the form of letters, these were written with a sense of longing and anticipation, in a time before phones, text messages and other forms of digital communication. People would wait for weeks, sometimes years to hear from loved ones. In this instance the man is working for Illinois Central Railroad Company.
I have used a variegated red gold leaf and texture, as well as the antique letters in this painting.
The warm clarets and soft dusky pinks make this a calm painting with warm undertones.
