Kintsugi one and two

$1,000.00

These works are from my “Divided Light” Series, created whilst I was working through grief following the passing of my husband.

This series of paintings considers the enduring nature of connection in the wake of loss. Through a collection of diptychs, Annette Palmer explores the space between absence and presence, where physical separation gives way to the quiet persistence of love, memory, and spirit.

Working intuitively, Palmer allows each painting to emerge through a process of reflection, surrender, and emotional response. Layers of color and texture, interwoven with reflective elements, evoke the shifting terrain of grief—its turbulence, its stillness, and its capacity for transformation. Rather than seeking resolution, these works inhabit the liminal space where love continues to exist beyond what can be seen, offering a meditation on remembrance, resilience, and the invisible bonds that endure.

Kintsugi is a Japanese philosophy that embraces the beauty of imperfections by highlighting the cracks and repairs of broken pottery with gold or other precious metals. It teaches that breakage and repair are part of an object's history, celebrating resilience and the acceptance of flaws in both art and life.
