“Hotter Than July” was inspired by a summer road trip to Marfa and Big Bend TX. The title, of course, is from Stevie Wonders song “Masterblaster”, which I remember buying as a child, during another hot summer!
This painting was created using acrylic on canvas, there are some very subtle floral elements in the lower part of the painting, which were taken from drawings I created during the trip.
The rich colors in this painting evoke energy and warmth, the golden clouds hang in sky, not a breath of wind.
